Lake Tahoe, Nev. may be one of the most striking settings for a wedding anywhere in the world, and it is a challenge for any bride to compete with the gorgeous scenery.
When Clint and Casey Fuller were married there on August 5, All eyes were on her, but the guests were also dazzled by the bride and groom. In fact, all Eight of the men in the wedding party were turned out in identical formal outfits custom designed and hand-tailored by Hadleigh's Bespoke in Dallas, Texas's Highland Park Village. No detail was overlooked, not the hand-stitching, not the fabrics, nor the custom-fitted shirts.
Even the patterns of the linings were customized. The stitching of the pocket squares and the neckties reflected the colors of the flowers the bridesmaids carried. The only part of these eight formal groomsmen outfits that was not conceived and personally executed by Ed Shaikh, the co-owner of Hadleigh's, was the shoes. They came from Converse.
Apart from the footwear, the defining style of these tuxedoes is roughly based on what fashion icons were wearing in the early 1950's and 60s, brought back into the spotlight. Shaikh has playfully named it his "JFK" line.
The idea for outfitting his groomsmen in such an unusual way came to Clint Fuller from Esquire magazine article about Hadleigh's that he read on a business trip. Even before he unpacked his bags when he arrived home to McKinney, TX, he placed a late night call to Ed Shaikh, and the wheels were set in motion the following morning.
Neither Clint nor any of his groomsmen had ever been fitted for custom tailored clothing before and none of them was quite ready for what to expect from their visit to Hadleigh's Atelier. As one of them said, "It was like a visit to the local country club." Like all of Hadleigh's clients, their fittings were done in complete privacy behind locked doors with the undivided attention of the atelier staff. The close personal attention extended to the wedding day itself when Ed and Gable, his wife and business partner flew to Lake Tahoe to make certain that the only wrinkles the wedding party had to deal with were the result of shipping the garments from Dallas. There were none, of course. Hadleigh's had left nothing to chance any step of the way.
